Hungover? These tips might help!

Are you waking up today a little “under the weather” fueled by a holiday party last night? No worries. It happens to the best of us. If you’re reading this and your head is pounding and your mouth feels like cotton balls…here are a few things you can do to get yourself feeling like a functioning member of society.

Get yourself hydrated. Water or other similar type drinks will she s big difference in how you feel. You’re dehydrated, and liquids will make you feel better. Think water, juice, sport drinks. I that note…if your head is pounding, take a pain reliever. It will will with that too.

Depending on how bad you feel, a light workout could help. This could be in the form of a walk, or yoga…maybe some Pilates. Some people like to “sweat the booze out” but that’s not always the best idea. You want to take it easy and let your body recover.

Sleep. I have a hard time “sleeping in” after a night of indulgence…but a nap? Woo hoo! Bring it on! Give yourself a little extra time to “sleep it off” and give yourself a break. Your body will thank you later.

Eat right. The “greasy spoon” breakfast isn’t going to do much good for you…and might even give you heartburn later! Stick with foods that are easy on your system. Toast, oatmeal, cereal…maybe even some pancakes (skip the sausage and home fries though). These will be easier to digest and be better for you I the long run.

The only thing that will really help your hangover is time. The holidays are the busiest party season and indulgences are going to happen. Have fun…but please drink responsibility. Most of all, make sure you have a designated driver if you end up with a few too many glasses of eggnog. Enjoy the season and just be sure to take care of yourself…without getting too carried away.
