Honey-Lemon Water to Start the Day


Recently I ran across an article, suggesting that honey-lemon water is the perfect drink to start your day with. I tried it myself and totally love it. I usually use hot water to dissolve the honey and then add a little bit of cool water, so the drink gets a nice mild temperature. It has several benefits:

  1. The drink rehydrates you quickly after a long night of sleep
  2. The lemon juice cleanses your stomach and helps to prevent cravings throughout the day (perfect if you are on a diet)
  3. The drink fills you up, so you won’t feel hungry all too soon
  4. Lemon and honey both help to increase your digestive activity (honey has antibacterial properties)
  5. The drink acts as an energy boost

I definitely experienced these benefits, as I felt far less hungry and so could move breakfast to a later hour of the day. This was especially beneficial for me, since I tend to be more hungry throughout the day, when I have had a big breakfast very early in the morning. Therefore I usually reduce my first meal to a minimum. I don’t know if I am just weird, or if you have the same problem. :D
