Winters are a time of snuggling up under the comforter with your fuzzy PJ and sweatshirt on. The season calls for maximum hot chocolate and spiced latte guzzling with a glass of bourbon here and there. This winter ditch your books for a while and get your movie library updated with these fashion documentaries we’ve picked out for you!

More often than not we come across the unhealthy cons of indulging in alcohol that isn’t wine. But allow us to be the boozy devil’s advocate here and introduce you to some of the eyebrow raising health benefits of your favourite bottled djinns (when taken in moderation, of course).

It seems like something so simple, being confident in the person you are and the choices you make, but unfortunately for some, that is not always the case. The truth is that while many people give off a sense of confidence in themselves, it’s usually just an act that they put on in public. Confidence is not something that comes easy, but if you reach far enough inside yourself, you will find this confidence is there, it just hasn’t been given a chance to come forward. Here’s some ways to trust in yourself and truly be confident.

In this age of endless connection, we are more disconnected than ever and most relationships don’t go very far beyond the surface. Maybe it’s because we hold ourselves back or maybe it’s because we no longer have the tools to genuinely connect, like face-to-face and via conversation.

There’s magic in silence, in being quiet. It’s a reservoir of great power, beauty, and creativity. But we talk so much. We think so much. Our lives are so cluttered with noise. It’s underrated, silence, and as culture we drastically underestimate its power, mystique, and intrigue.

Yes, love is all about sacrifice and compromise, but it’s important also to establish a limit. You shouldn’t have to throw your whole life away to make a relationship work. If you have to lose yourself to please your partner, you’re with the wrong person.

Empathy, the cousin of sympathy, is not so much being able to relate to what someone is feeling as it is actually feeling it as well – and most of the time, we’re completely unaware that it’s happening.

We adopt the thoughts and emotions of those around us all the time (i.e. the collective consciousness) but some people just have a stronger response to it than others. Here are a few ways to know you’re more empathetic than you realize, so you can stop driving yourself crazy trying to solve problems that aren’t yours.

Before I met my husband, I was an independent workaholic who loved to journal. My plans for success down the road were mapped out, with the expectation that every goal on the list would be checked off. I had capital, a pure heart, and deadlines to meet – until I met my husband.

Do you want to feel the following:

alive, alert, happy, attractive, confident and/or healthy?

Well, it’s proved that physical activity can make you feel exactly those things.

Not only does working out help control your weight, but it will make you feel proud and secure. You will experience a change in your body, progressing in physical and mental strength.

I’ve been practicing yoga for almost a year and I absolutely love it. I can’t imagine not having yoga in my life now. However, yoga memberships can be very pricey and individual classes or class packages are also very expensive. Doing yoga at home, whether it’s your own creation of poses or you’re watching an online video, is always an option.

I did try practicing on my own at home but I found that having that class experience was so much more motivating and having an instructor there to help you and push you was much more beneficial. Not to mention my apartments have never allowed me the right amount of space to practice in and trying to move furniture and not accidentally kick a lamp over while doing an inversion doesn’t really allow you to be fully present in your practice.

1. Donate twenty-five personal belongings.

By the end of the year we have accumulated a lot of junk. Pick twenty-five items: be they books, articles of clothing or household objects that you can live without, and donate them to a good cause. You won’t miss the clutter heading into the new year, and you’ll rest easier knowing that someone else is putting them to good use.
